A position for a highly committed and motivated postdoctoral fellow is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christoph Schaniel at the Black Family Stem Cell Institute, the Department of Pharmacology and Systems Therapeutics and the Department of Developmental and Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York city.
Our research focuses on modeling cardiovascular and neurological diseases with iPSCs to investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutics. Specific interests are in cardiac and neurological channelopathies, variable patient drug responsiveness, and drug toxicity and mitigation. Applicants must have a PhD and/or an MD degree and bring a strong scientific background in cellular and molecular biology. Applicants with experience in iPSC generation, maintenance and differentiation to cardiomyocytes and/or neurons will be given priority. Knowledge in tissue engineering or lab-on-a-chip is a plus. Meticulous record-keeping is expected.
