Position is exclusively for Phillips School of Nursing Students

 

The Perioperative PACU Externship will orient nurses who are not yet licensed to all aspects of postoperative care through one-on-one mentorship, classroom training, as well as exposure to varied Post Anesthesia Care Unit cases; by providing a foundation of per anesthesia knowledge that is based upon evidence-based patient care management. This externship prepares the RN for a fast-paced Critical Care PACU.

Essential Duties

Management of post-operative patients

Monitoring of post-operative patients

Temperature regulation

Treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting

Pain management

Aldrete score and discharge

 

Education Requirements             

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing Bachelor’s Degree Program

Must be registered to sit for the NCLEX Boards

BLS
