Mount Sinai Services at NYC H+H /Queens Hospital are seeking to hire a Full-Time Licensed Genetic Counselor to support the OB/GYN & Pediatrics Departments as part of our Clinical Team.
You will provide genetic counseling services and risk assessment for all patients with family, personal history or abnormal relevant screening or diagnostic test result to determine genetic risk, provide testing options and supportive counseling. You will help patients understand and come to terms with the significant impact of a genetically inherited disease. In addition to counseling patients, serves as education resource for other health care providers, patient advocate, refers to appropriate community and state programs/services. Performs administrative functions as necessary for specimen processing and program support. Supervise medical/genetic counseling students from affiliated programs. Referral source include prenatal, cancer, pediatric, preconception, adult, newborn screening and other specialties within hospital and in community referral base.
-Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling
-Board Eligible/Certified from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. (If BE, then Board Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling within two years of employment)
-Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling
