Roles & Responsibilities:
 
Provides administrative support to the HIM department.

1. Responsible for the coordination of medical information release, following prescribed authorization procedures.
2. Verifies authorizations in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and state and federal laws.
3. Receives all calls and routes them appropriately.
4. Responsible for processing of subpoenas and court orders.
5. Maintains accurate logs of fees paid, information copied, and the date information was sent. 
6. Picks up, receives, sorts and delivers all departmental mails to appropriate personnel on a daily basis.
7. Assists the medical staff with requests for health information.
 
 
Requirements:
 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • HIM experience or related background
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Knowledge of HIPAA
