Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Faculty Position at the Mount Sinai Health System!

Job Description

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Faculty Position at the Mount Sinai Health System!

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) is seeking full- and part-time faculty to join our Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Program.  The ECT Service is a component of our Interventional Neuropsychiatry (INP) and Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) Programs, innovatively cross-departmental (psychiatry, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and neuroscience) initiatives led by multiple world-class faculty.  Allied ECT/INP/TRD sub-programs include transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS) applied to syndromes spanning mood, impulse control (e.g., OCD), and other neuropsychiatric spectrum disorders.

Inpatient and outpatient ECT procedures are delivered at MSHS sites in Manhattan.  While ECT Program responsibilities are primary, opportunities for participation, advanced training, and collaborative research across other INP sub-programs are encouraged.

The Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness. We are ranked #6 nationally in NIH funding, and listed as one of the top regional hospital departments by U.S. News & World Report. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical behavioral health services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Queens.  We have over 350 inpatient behavioral health beds and 4 psychiatric emergency locations (CPEP/Psychiatry ED), and had over 1 million ambulatory behavioral health visits in 2017.  All locations serve as major teaching sites.  A newly-accredited Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry overlaps with this position’s focus. The Psychiatry Department is closely allied with the Friedman Brain Institute and all other brain-related departments of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  Faculty appointment commensurate with experience.

ECT certification and/or prior ECT experience preferred
ABPN Board-certified or Board-eligible Psychiatrist
New York State Medical License
Qualifications for Assistant Professor or higher level faculty appointment
Collaborative, proactive, and dedicated work ethic
Commitment to high-quality, cost-effective health care
Desire to grow professionally within a team-oriented, performance-driven department
