Job Description

Mount Sinai Health System has an immediate opening for an Addiction Medicine physician or Addiction Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of our Opioid Treatment Program, and to manage the Outpatient Addiction Pharmacotherapy Clinic!  

Both the Opioid Treatment Program and the Outpatient Addiction Pharmacotherapy Clinic primarily serve the medically indigent. The successful candidate will provide medical services to patients suffering from all substance use disorders, and implement appropriate maintenance pharmacotherapy including buprenorphine as well as provide as needed ambulatory detoxification services. Competitive salary and benefits.  Candidates should have fellowship training in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry and be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry. Candidates must also have a proven track record of academic progression in the field of addiction and hold an active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State, as well as a federal buprenorphine waiver from the DEA.

The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical behavioral health services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Queens.  We have over 350 inpatient behavioral health beds and 4 psychiatric emergency locations (CPEP/Psychiatry ED), and had over 1 million ambulatory behavioral health visits in 2017.  All locations serve as major teaching sites.  A newly-accredited Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry overlaps with this position’s focus. The Psychiatry Department is closely allied with the Friedman Brain Institute and all other brain-related departments of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  Faculty appointment commensurate with experience. 

We provide care to individuals with a broad range of mental illnesses using a team approach, including psychopharmacological care and individual, group and family therapy. Close collaboration with on-site primary care and substance use services is built in.  The service is a major teaching site for psychiatry residents, medical students and psychologists. The service is also undergoing significant diversification, and will be a leading site of DSRIP projects for the Mount Sinai Health System.    

Qualifications:
  • Board-certified/Board-eligible in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry
  • Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry
  • New York State Medical License
  • Qualifications for Assistant Professor or higher level faculty appointment
