Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsible for the supervision and coordination of the daily technical and clerical work of the Histology/Cytology laboratory.  Assists the section manager as needed.  Performs a variety of technical procedures that result in the creation of microscopic slides preparation, within an appropriated turn-around time receives specimens, documents the macroscopic descriptions and prepares moderate to high complexity surgical/cytology pathology specimens for processing.  Cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Department and Hospital Center.  May be required to perform other duties as necessary.  Bachelor of Science required, preferably in Medical Technology.  Must meet NYSDOH requirements to supervise a high-complexity laboratory.  ASCP certification preferred.  Two to six years’ experience, based on educational background.  Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.  Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
