Mount Sinai School of Medicine affiliation with Queens Hospital Center seeks an echocardiography technician to join our Cardiology team. Responsibilities include performance of 2D/doppler exams and assisting in stress echos and TEE's. The job includes working one weekend day per week. Must be certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
(HS/GED; specialized training; degree and discipline)
1. Job requires a minimum level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of a high school education followed by a period of specific training in diagnostic echocardiography in order to gain basic knowledge of testing procedures, mathematics and written/verbal communication skills in order to effectively make calculations, perform tests and communicate with patients and clinicians. Some college education desirable in allied area or technical field.
Minimum Related Experience
(e.g. 1 year in research environment)
Prior work experience of six months is desired in order to gain operational familiarity with on-the-job administration of echocardiographic testing techniques or successful completion of clinical rotation to learn use of m-mode and two dimensional sector scanning techniques.
Good analytical skills necessary for gathering and interpreting quantitative data representing possible degrees of cardiac impairment. Although physicians screen tests and mitigate or eliminate potential for error, technician has to be able to recognize nature of patient physiological responses and be able to compile consistently accurate test results.
