Under the direct supervision of the Director of Ophthalmology the Ophthalmic Technician evaluates patient’s visual status, documents past medical and ocular histories, confirms medical drug regimen, quantifies visual acuity, performs diagnostic visual testing, assists physicians with ophthalmic care of patients and is responsible for the maintenance of ophthalmic equipment. Assists an Eye Center Physician and other technical support personnel to perform diagnostics tests necessary for evaluation of patient eye problem.
-High school diploma or equivalent required.
-Minimum one year related experience as a Medical Office Assistant or equivalent.
-Ophthalmic Technician certification preferred.
-Basic computer skills required.
-Good communication skills with patients and staff to provide information.
