Icahn School of Medicine affiliation with NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, seeks an experienced per-diem Ultrasound technologist to join our team. To qualify, you must hold current ARDMS, ARRT OR CCI Registration.
Under general supervision of licensed Physicians and Ultrasound Supervisor, performs and/or assists in performing all routine ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Sets up, adjusts, and operates ultrasound equipment, selecting proper probes to obtain accurate diagnostic study; properly positions and immobilizes patients. Responds to patients’ needs as required. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and general working area, stocking clinical supplies. Ensures proper operation of ultrasound equipment. Provides instruction to medical students and residents as required. Provides care to patients of all ages/groups in the form of diagnostic testing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision of physicians and Ultrasound supervisor, prepares patients and examination areas in accordance with departmental policies and procedures for administration, as appropriate, of all general, small parts, pelvis and first trimester OB ultrasound. Sets up, cleans and warms up ultrasound equipment. Provides patient orientation prior to examination session.
Under supervision, performs or assists in performing routine Ultrasound diagnostic evaluations in accordance with established clinical protocols. Positions patients in accordance with established procedures and techniques. Operates and adjusts equipment, determining current settings and monitoring patient. Responds to patients needs during testing. properly labels images in accordance with defined procedures. May perform specialized diagnostic examinations as permitted by experience/registry.
Provides related support functions as required. Schedules examinations; initiates transportation; maintains examination files and statistics. May answer telephones for area and record messaaes. Maintains clean work area and equipment and maintains full stock of applicable clinical supplies. Properly prepares contrast medica as needed.
Ensures good working order of equipment. Troubleshoots routine equipment problems or seeks technical' assistance for equipment malfunctions, keeping supervisor(s) appropriately informed.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required as professional Ultrasound technologist. Trains and orients residents and clinical students from various departments and external institutions.
Minimum ARDMS Requirements
ARDMS Registry required is mandatory.
Minimum Certification Requirements
Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Certification is mandatory
