Stamford Hospital, in partnership with Mount Sinai Health System, Seeks a Surgical Oncologist!
The Department of Surgery at Stamford Hospital is seeking a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in surgical oncology. Applicants should have at least five to ten years of experience, have expertise in gastric, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary oncologic surgery, and be committed to teaching residents and medical students.
The selected candidate will work collaboratively with other cancer surgeons in the Department of Surgery, including fellowship-trained thoracic, colorectal, breast, urologic, endocrine, and gynecologic surgeons. We anticipate that the successful candidate’s clinical practice would consist of a mix of approximately 75% surgical oncologic and 25% complex benign general surgery cases, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical and advanced therapeutic endoscopic approaches. This would entail employing a variety of advanced surgical equipment and techniques, including surgical robotics and advanced laparoscopy. An academic appointment at Mount Sinai would also be considered based on the candidate’s qualifications.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
• Accredited ACGME general surgery residency program
• Board certification in General Surgery through the American Board of Surgery
• Completed fellowship in General Surgical Oncology; Board certification/eligibility in Complex General Surgical Oncology preferred but not required
• Obtain Connecticut medical licensure and granting of privileges at Stamford Hospital, the Mount Sinai Health System and other affiliated hospitals as needed; valid controlled substance registration and DEA
• Experience in open, minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques for the treatment of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, esophageal, gastric, adrenal and colorectal cancers. In addition, expertise in the surgical treatment of surgery, liver ultrasound, isolated limb perfusion and infusion for regional melanoma, sarcoma and cytoreductive therapies, including hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, is desired
• Perform basic and complex, advanced general surgical procedures including laparoscopic and robotic procedures for benign biliary, pancreatic, and foregut disease
• Collaborative team-building leadership style with the oncology and surgical program to
maintain accreditation with the American College of General Surgeons Commission on Cancer
