Mount Sinai School of Medicine's Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Christoph Buettner. Dr. Buettner’s laboratory focuses on studying how the brain controls metabolism in the body using physiological study techniques such as euglycemic clamp techniques and stereotactic infusions into the brain to assess whole body glucose and lipid homeostasis and inflammation. The laboratory is also interested in identifying the role of hypothalamic control of hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism and to dissect the role that parenchymal and non parenchymal cells play in the control. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and or MD in neuroscience or physiology, be highly motivated, productive and dedicated to a research career. The ideal candidate will have experience in metabolic phenotyping, signaling, animal surgery and experience with brain injections of recombinant viruses. This position is ideal for a recent PhD graduate who now wants to broaden his scope and embark on a successful academic career.
