What You’ll Do: 
 

Working under the supervision of an attending physician, the Research PA will be responsible for the following:

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruit participants into clinical trials
  • Under the direction of the supervising physician, provide study-related obs care, gyn care, and general health maintenance to subjects participating in clinical trials
  • Perform venipuncture, vaccination, and other study related procedures
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests
  • Track patients and devise system to retain patients in longitudinal follow-ups
  • Prepares IRB submissions, study reports, and regulatory documents
  • Maintain study-related source documentation consistent with good clinical practice and in accordance with HIPAA regulations good clinical practice and in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Enter data into study specific data bases
  • Collaborate with other study sites and sponsors to oversee the conduct of this trial in accordance with good clinical practices
  • Supervise part-time research assistants who provide clerical support for research projects
  • In addition, the PA will evaluate obstetrics patients, family planning patients, and gynecology patients in either the ambulatory setting or inpatient setting under the supervision of an attending physician.   
 

Research Studies

Recruit participants into clinical trials

Obtain informed consent for potential subjects

Under the direction of the supervising physician, provide study-related gyn care and general health maintenance to subjects participating in clinical trials

Perform venipuncture, vaccination, and other study related procedures

Order and interpret laboratory tests

Track patients and devise system to retain patients in longitudinal follow-up

Prepares IRB submissions, study reports, and regulatory documents

Collaborate with other study sites and sponsors to oversee the conduct of this trial in accordance with good clinical practice.  

Ambulatory Practices and Emergency Department

Takes pertinent history

Performs physical and pelvic examination

Obtains laboratory and diagnostic tests

Performs diagnostic procedures as indicated

Identifies risk factors and develop appropriate plan of management

Provides counseling and teaching as needed

Admits patient to hospital as indicated, under direct supervision of the chief resident and/or the attending physician

Obtains physician consultation for plan of management for any medical or gynecologic complications not addressed in departmental protocols

 

Inpatient Care, Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology

Admits patient to hospital as indicated, under supervision of the chief resident and the attending physician

Performs venipuncture and starts intravenous infusions if nursing staff is unavailable

Obtains laboratory and diagnostic tests and evaluates results

Performs post-operative evaluations

Evaluates and treats patients who develop fevers

Evaluates and cares for surgical incisions

Evaluates and manages patients’ pain

Evaluates and manages common medical complications

Obtains physician consultation for plan of management for any medical or gynecologic complications not addressed in departmental protocols

Acts as first or second assistant in performance of surgical procedures with attending and/or chief resident

Makes rounds on the inpatient services, examines patients, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests and results

Prepares patients for surgery as indicated

Provides appropriate teaching and counseling to patients and family members

 
 
What You’ll Bring:
 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Physician Associate
  • New York State Registered Physician’s Associate
  • 5 years experience in a hospital/medical environment
  • 1 year supervisory
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in nursing practice
  • Experience in managing and financial management
  • Ability to motivate, develop and coach individuals
