Dr. Buettner’s laboratory focuses on studying how the brain controls metabolism in the body using physiological study techniques such as euglycemic clamp techniques and stereotactic infusions into the brain to assess whole body glucose and lipid homeostasis and inflammation. The laboratory is also interested in identifying the role of hypothalamic control of hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism and to dissect the role that parenchymal and non parenchymal cells play in the control.
