Job Title: Director, Social Media
 
 
Roles & Responsibilities:

If you do, the Mount Sinai Health System wants you to join our team.  The Director of Social Media will oversee the strategic, administrative, operational, and financial activities of the Social Media Department at the Mount Sinai Health System which includes seven hospitals and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, as well as an expanding ambulatory footprint. In this role, the Director will focus on strategy that will drive reputation and revenue for the Health System and achieve a unified and strong brand platform.  They will also lead strategy and response to crisis situations across all social media platforms.  The Director will coordinate with Marketing and Media Relations, as well as key stakeholders in the Mount Sinai Health System -- including Government Affairs and Legal, to ensure a consistent message about the institution’s mission, vision, and values in the global community. 
  • Lead the strategic planning and management of Mount Sinai’s brand and voice across relevant social media platforms including ensuring that the brand is sufficiently represented, leveraged and protected.
  • Lead strategic planning and management across relevant media platforms including Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Foursquare, periscope, Google+ and other similar digital community sites.
  • Understand business and growth objectives to help drive revenue for the Mount Sinai Health System initiatives.
  • Play key role in developing and executing social media strategy during crisis situations and represent Social Media Department in system wide Health System Emergency Management Exercises.
  • Oversee a social media team that writes, produces and distributes numerous posts a day across social media platforms to promote service areas, staff, leadership, events, research and initiatives.
  • Strategically analyze social media platforms and recommend strategies to leverage the Mount Sinai brand.   Perform inventory of enterprise-wide social media channels to develop strategies to ensure brand consistencies.
  • Prepare social media metrics reports and review data to determine effectiveness of campaigns to maximize traffic and awareness, as well as increase revenue.
  • Engage user community including patients and employees on all social media platforms to develop and nurture relationships and calls to action through social channels
  • Play key role in developing thought leadership social media platform for leaders at  the Mount Sinai Health System
  • Identify and monitor trends in social media and implement improvements. Drive innovation by leveraging new media platforms.
  • Plan and execute monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly social media campaigns across all platforms. Develop health awareness campaign applications on all media channels..
  • Develop and manage blogger outreach program. Establish relationships with influential bloggers, and use their platforms to promote Mount Sinai Medical Center initiatives, service areas, events, and physicians. Connect and collaborate with bloggers on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
  • Develop innovative Social Media Hub for the entire Mount Sinai Health System, featuring each hospital's social media posts, pictures, videos, and blog posts.
  • Propose and oversee campaigns to elevate Mount Sinai’s reputation for U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital rankings
  • Monitor all social media conversations and hospital, school, and physician rating sites to identify prevailing sentiment and areas of concern. Develop and execute strategies to enhance reputation and manage negative conversations and ratings on social media platforms, review sites, and other digital forums (Social  Reputation Management).
  • Manage strategic online partnerships with targeted platforms, and channels, and recommend awareness-building brand initiatives. Serve as the primary point of contact and key organizer for the Mount Sinai Social Media Department in all partnerships.
  • Train internal team (including Mount Sinai stakeholders, departments, and marketing team) in digital media best practices.  Educate web, marketing, press and PR teams as well as physicians, communications managers, students, faculty and other internal stakeholders on social media strategies, trends and best practices. Conduct hands-on social media boot camps to train stakeholders.
  • Manage and promote Livestream recruitment events for School programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure 360-degree integration of social media channels with Mount Sinai Medical Center websites and other Mount Sinai channels, including social links, share buttons, twitter feeds, social hubs, and YouTube videos.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or other relative degree work; Masters preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience in management of web digital and editorial teams, and proven success with leading staff and institutional brand-building and reputation enhancement programs. .
  • High proficiency and expertise in applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, PowerPoint, Freehand, InDesign, along with knowledge of illustration, typography
  • Understanding of medical terminology and demonstrated competency in communicating effectively with clinical staff and Hospital personnel at all levels.  Excellent analytical and writing abilities.
