Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Job Summary:
    To minimize anxiety and stress experienced by children, adolescents, and families in the medical setting through offering expressive and creative writing-focused interventions. Support parents and encourage their participation in their child's healthcare experience. Help children foster their innate sense of imagination and creativity while coping with personal illness or the illness of their sibling/family member. Utilize creative writing as an outlet to navigate various internal emotional experiences. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive writing-based interventions to patients and families.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Provide daily creative writing sessions to hospitalized children, siblings and/or family members as directed by Child Life Staff Member

    2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team

    3. Provide culturally-responsive and family centered care to patients and families

    4. Produce a monthly creative-writing based television program in KidZone TV, the closed-circuit live broadcast channel in Kravis Children's Hospital

    5. Produce SURGE, teen literary and art magazine twice per year in coordination with editorial team
