Job Title: ULTRASOUND TECHNICIAN - BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - MON-FRI, 9A-5:30P

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Offsite Ultrasound Technician, under the direction of the Radiologist and Physician, assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by providing high quality ultrasound images.

  • Verifies patient identification, prepares and assists patients for ultrasound procedures as requested by a physician.
  • Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
  • Helps patient transfer to the sono exam table and ensures adequate imobilization to perform the scan.
  • Performs patient care tasks,  eg. removing excess gel from patient.
  • Obtain diagnostic sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient.
  • Maintains a daily log of patients seen.
  • Monitors patient reaction to treatment and changes in physical or mental status, reporting change to the appropiate person.
  • Provides patient care with dignity and respect for the individual.   Educates patients about the procedures to be performed including Biopsy procedures.
  • Practices sterile technique to prevent cross contamination.
  • Obtains optimum quality images through the use of proper anatomical positioning, probe and frequency selection as designed by the radiologist.
  • Observes and follows safety procedures including universal precautions.
  • Carries out quality control checks on equipment, reporting deficiencies to proper personnel for action.
  • Maintains currency with changes regarding technology and safety for self, patients, and visitors.
  • Places the demographic information in the reading room for interpretation.
  • Processes studies onto CD or Film format for patient study requests while maintaining proper HIPPA compliance.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and working area.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
 

Education:

  • HS/GED and graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program  
  • Certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty as appropriate.
 
 

Experience:

  • 0-1 years as Ultrasound Technician experience, greater preferred
