We are supported by the NIH BRAIN initiative and are developing cell-based detectors, called CNiFERs, that can be implanted in the brain and used for detecting the release of specific neurotransmitters in real time. We are currently constructing new CNiFERs for the detection of neuropeptide release in the brain. The hire will work on a project that involves learning cell-based fluorescence assays, knowledge of G protein signaling, electrophysiological measurement in acutel brain slices, and 1P/2P fluorescence imaging.
