Job Title: Associate Director, Engineering- Planning, Design and Construction
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction and administers operational functions of the department regarding fiscal, personnel, management information systems, budget, legal, policy and labor relations activities.
  • Interviews, hires, disciplines and discharges all staff assigned to Plant Operations and Maintenance.
  • Evaluates work of subordinates and counsels on work performance.
  • Formulates and recommends to Director of Engineering, annual operating and capital budget levels, and macro-staffing levels for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Initiates, processes and approves transactions relating to purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, inventories, fund accounting and insurance administration.
  • Controls and monitor all areas of operations by reviewing periodic reports and overseeing activities of department.
  • Formulates long and short-range plans such as financial planning for annual operating and capital budgets and strategic planning for area of responsibility.
  • Prepares various financial and statistical reports for Plant Operations and Maintenance including analysis of general ledger, staffing status reports, disciplinary action reports, overtime reports, reports on shop expenditures, minor renovations proposals, etc.
  • Develops and implements department policies and procedures necessary to improve operating efficiency, and confers with other department on policies and procedures necessary to improve operating efficiency, and confers with other departments on policies that affect them to ensure effective engineering services are maintained.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with user departments to gather and exchange information, resolve problems and improve services provided.
  • Interfaces on continuous basis with department heads and senior management.
  • Represents Plant Operations and Maintenance on various committees that are related to Engineering, i.e., Minor Renovation Review Committee and Project Prioritization Review Committee.
  • 5 year experience in Facilities Design & Construction and Engineering Operations.
  • Master Degree in accounting or other related business field.
