Job Title: Director

 

Overall responsibility for OR Supply Chain Technology & related Logistics for Mount Sinai Health System, including implementation and management of Inventory Management Technology and Best Practices. 

Manages OR Material Managers system-wide and acts as liaison to Technology vendors. Develops and presents analytics for Sr. Leadership and standardizes best practices across health system. 

Functions include logistics analysis, process and workflow re-design, utilization analytics development, report generation, and other related services as required. Develops and Manages Forward Deployment Initiatives for health system. Performs on-site Logistics Support and assists the Project Management Team and Corporate Director Materials Management as needed in implementing Supply Chain operational improvements. Interacts with Sr. Perioperative Leadership in order to identify areas of opportunity and drive performance improvement.

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

1.    Manage OR Materials Managers at all MSHS Acute Care facilities
a. Ensure standardization of practices and technology throughout health system
b. Identify resource needs and develop ROI
c. Working with local Directors of Materials, Develop OR Materials Annual Budgets

2. Manage implementation of Inventory Management Technology System-wide. 
a. Drive successful implementation of technology
i. Develop and maintain technology implementation timelines
ii. Liaison to Clinical End Users and Vendor Solutions management teams
iii. Lead implementation meetings
b. Ensure ongoing performance of Inventory Management Technology
i. Develop and maintain Performance Analytics and monitor ROI
ii. Ensure end-user education

3. Develop and Implement Best Practices in OR supply logistics
a. Partner with Clinical Leadership to identify areas of opportunity (“Voice of the Customer”)
b. Develop solutions and projected ROI
c. Perform workflow mapping and physical re-design as needed
d. Support product standardization initiatives
e. Drive logistics innovation and excellence
f. Develop and maintain quarterly OR Performance Improvement Schedule

4. Communicate status of programs or projects to MSHS End users, Leadership, and Vendor Project team members. 
a. Develop and Maintain System-wide KPIs and develop regular reporting to Corporate Director Materials and System Leadership

5. Educate and train MSHS End users and teammates in the use of various Inventory Management Programs

6. General Duties: 

a. Provides administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long range policies, procedures and programs. 
b. Oversees the daily operation of department, including creating and implementing production schedules, and/or tracking and reporting systems, managing work assignments and identifying and resolving issues. 
c. Establishes goals and objectives for the department that are consistent with Mount Sinai Health System policies and federal, state and local regulations.
d. May be responsible for creating, reviewing and/or updating policies and procedures pertaining to department specific goals and objectives. 
e. Ensures compliance with MSHS policies and procedures. 
f. May implement quality assurance programs and oversees monitoring activities to meet standards and regulations of accrediting agencies such as Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Commission of Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and New York State and City Department of Health. 
g. May chair or participate in department committees. 
h. May serve as primary point-of-contact for interdepartmental communications, where applicable, in order to maintain standards, implement improvements, define and measure progress and meet business objectives. 
i. May Interprets and administers policies regarding hiring, payroll, appointments and promotions, placement and orientation of all faculty and/or staff.
j. May design in house training materials and train employees when necessary.

    7. Perform additional duties as directed. 

  

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree 

• At least 5 years previous Hospital Materials Management, Technology, Health care finance or administration
• Experience in strategic planning and execution, formulating policy, building and developing financial plans, managing resources and leading successful teams.
• LEAN training (Green Belt/Black Belt) preferred
• Experience with Qsight Inventory Management, Oracle Cloud ERP Management preferred
• Experience with Tableau Analytics, Advanced Excel

MS Word – Basic to Intermediate
MS Excel – Intermediate to Expert
MS PowerPoint - Intermediate to Expert 
Willingness to learn new technology

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills 
• Analytical and problem solving skills 
• Managerial skills including budgeting and finance
• Familiarity with Materials Management in Clinical Areas
• Familiarity with Inventory Management Technology
