Roles & Responsibilities:

 
The Mount Sinai Innovation Partners (‘MSIP’) Business Development Analyst (‘BDA’) is an early-career professional with scientific and business skills who brings exciting new technologies and clinical treatments to the commercial market. The BDA is viewed a reliable representative of MSIP to Mount Sinai Faculty inventors, and coordinates the scientific and commercial analyses of new technology disclosures, develops an understanding of patent and contract strategy, researches market opportunity, and may participate in deal-making. A successful BDA asks good questions, follows direction, juggles tasks, completes assignments timely, and is eager to: contribute, collaborate, and learn.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the team on all matters client engagement, as directed; may develop one-on-one relationships, especially with early-career investigators and inventors
  • Coordinates the evaluation of technologies; researches technologies and opportunities
  • Develops understanding of patent strategies
  • Assists in the evaluation of commercial potential; assists in the response to RFP's; supports opportunities to source and develop new commercial relationships
  • Coordinates and facilitates industry meetings, including agendas and presentations; prepares summaries; drafts marketing sheets
  • Understands terms and term sheet templates; may draft term sheets, as assigned; may close Blue Mountain deals
  • Assists with post-deal management tasks, as assigned
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned
 


Requirements:

  • Masters of Life Science required; PhD, preferred
  • MBA or JD, a plus
  • Some laboratory (industry or academic) or business (pharma or biotech), preferred
