Roles & Responsibilities: 

The Research Informatics Project Manager for the Scientific Computing department assists with the overarching goal of accelerating translational research and improving clinical care.

 

The incumbent will be leading, planning, managing and directing multiple complex projects consisting of one or more project teams including Sinai-specific and NIH-funded national resources and projects in high performance computing and data warehousing, utilizing a thorough understanding Project Management and Business Analysis industry standards and best practices.

 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Creates, reviews and evaluates project plans and objectives
  • Tracks team resource utilization and scheduling of deliverables
  • Regularly and proactively communicates with and manages the expectations of stakeholders, sharing progress, schedules, and status
  • Works in a hybrid Project Management environment, applying the appropriate traditional or agile project management methods where appropriate
  • Regularly communicates progress to top management, adjusts for priorities, and modifies schedules as required
  • Proactively initiates and drives meetings, presentations, and project progress on a daily basis
  • Manages and proactively drives the overall progress and deliverables for major national and regional projects and data sharing initiatives such as the Data Submission and Repository portal of the NIEHS-funded national Children's Health Exposure Analysis Resource (CHEAR), and the data submissions and study support for the NYC-Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN)
  • Can performs functional analysis and system design as a Business Analyst. Authors functional requirements and system design documents. Works closely with healthcare researchers and business users to identify, specify, and clearly document the complex business requirements, use cases, and processes for diverse applications and systems
  • Analyzes Clinical Researchers' data requirements and determines how best to present, visualize, and store data results
  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested
 
 
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience & Required Skills:
    • 10 years of diverse experience in multiple areas of technology and/or healthcare business analysis of which at least five years included Project Management and staff management
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively as a liaison between both healthcare and technology teams
    • Demonstrated excellence in the creation of traditional Project Plans, BRDs, FRDs, Use Case diagrams, Presentations, and other related diagrams and documentation
    • Demonstrated experience and training in an Agile Methodology, preferably as a Scrum Master, Team Lead, or similar
    • Self-driven and proactive
    • Experience with SDLC, Agile and Traditional Project Management methodologies, and related software (JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project) are a strong plus
    • Strong experience with meeting management and presentations (Powerpoint preferred)
    • Healthcare provider domain experience is a strong plus (such as knowledge of Clinical Terminology, Population Health Management, Electronic Medical Record systems, IT interfaces and information exchange protocols/standards)
    • Familiarity with Relational Databases, Data Warehouses, Entity Relationship Diagrams, and SQL queries is strongly encouraged
