Job Title:  Social Worker – Oncology

  

  

Roles & Responsibilities:

This social work float position is in the Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center. The social worker will have the opportunity to cover various outpatient cancer services. The social worker will work with patients from diagnosis to end-of-life and the social worker will provide counseling and other psychosocial services to patients and their families. The social worker will provide these interventions primarily in the outpatient setting but the role may involve some inpatient work as well. Psychoeducation and community planning are a significant part of the social worker’s responsibilities. There will be the opportunity to run groups and other integrative services to benefit the patient population.

Requirements: 


New York State LMSW.
Experience providing psychosocial services to patients with chronic illnesses.
Skills in rapid psychosocial assessment and focused, short-term treatment.
Excellent clinical, communication, collaborative, and organizational skills.
Oncology experience preferred.
Ability to develop psychosocial programs.
