Job Title:  Social Worker – Head and Neck Cancer


Roles & Responsibilities:

This position involves the provision of social work services for Head and Neck Cancer patients who are on primarily 8 Center as well as throughout the hospital. There is a great need for supportive counseling for patients and families in crisis. The discharge planning component requires fast paced coordination of home care services, community resources and some facilitation of SAR placements.

The social worker will have responsibilities that include teamwork, committee meetings and participation beyond the purview of the floor assignment. Knowledge of crisis, family and systems theories is utilized in an interdisciplinary setting. Skills in assessment and coordination of resources within hospital and community networks for effective management of patient care is essential.


New York State LMSW. 
Excellent clinical, collaborative, and organizational skills
Ability to handle complex medical and discharge conditions and discharge planning
Inpatient hospital experience preferred
