Roles & Responsibilities: 
 

The Division of International Health of the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, located in Manhattan, New York, develops and implements research and research training programs through cooperation with local, national and international academic partners. Its mission is to connect and engage research scientists and students in international collaborations that advance public health.


The Program Coordinator is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of the Division, particularly the work of the International Exchange Program for Minority Students, a program that selects bright, high-level students (Bachelors to Doctorate) and places them to participate in research training with mentors in Mexico, Brazil, Ireland, Spain, Argentina and South Africa. It is expected that the position will require the coordinator to work about 50% of the time in administrative and coordination duties and approximately 50% of the time in writing and program evaluation.

 
  • Assist in the selection and processing of students and research mentors, including ensuring that they have required visas, health insurance and all documentation
  • Coordinate local and international travel and housing
  • Process payments for local and international speakers and mentors
    Organize and coordinate a speakers’ series and other events, particularly for Orientation Week in early June
  • Document financial transactions
  • Update social media sites for the program
  • Create tracking spreadsheets for documenting student and research outcomes
  • Complete international mailings and communications, including creation of a newsletter and questionnaires
  • Write annual reports and financial statements
  • Coordinate evaluation data input using survey tools
  • Analyze evaluation outcomes and write drafts for reports based on those outcomes
 
Requirements: 
 
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the degree when the experiences are closely related to the duties of the job
  • Experience: None required, but 1-2 years administrative experience preferred
