Supervisor I- Kosher Kitchen- Requisition #2357776


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Performs a variety of supervisory functions related to Kashrus (laws governing kosher food preparation). May also include supervision of cafeteria, vending and catering services
  • Supervises all food production in regard to Kashrus.
  • Turns on all ovens and steam kettles and any other equipment necessary to food production that falls with the guidelines of Kashrus.
  • Checks all incoming deliveries for proper seals and boxes.
  • Reports all shortages or incorrect invoices to the kosher kitchen manager.
  • Checks staff schedule for sick calls and any other staffing shortages daily. 
  • Keeps manager informed of all issue with regard to kosher food products and operational concerns.
  • Assist when needed in requisitioning of supplies and inventory control.
  • Researches all new products with the assistance of the Orthodox Union.
  • Keeps all letters of product approval on file from the Orthodox Union.
  • Meets daily with the Kosher Kitchen manager to update operational concerns.
  • Opens and closes kitchen, checks all seals and locks.
  • Ensure timely and efficient meal service to all service areas.
  • Assist when needed in requisitioning of supplies and inventory control.
  • Maintains standards of operations and policies and procedures for facility and Mount Sinai Medical Center
  • Follows Mount Sinai Medical Center standards of operation for food handling and storage. 
  • Complies with Mount Sinai Medical Center business Conduct Policy.
  • Complies with all requirements of all Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination of Employment Act of 1967, as amended and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended.
  • Brings disciplinary action with documentation to the Kosher Manager or Patient Service Supervisor when needed to maintain department standards of conduct.




  • Reports to Kosher Kitchen Manager


  • Must be able to read and write English and perform simple math calculations.
  • High School Education or any Equivalent combination of experience and training


  • Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds, Requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Reaching, Handling, Fingering, Feeling, Talking, Hearing and Seeing. Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
