Graphic Designer

Development Communications is seeking a graphic designer to produce a full spectrum of print and digital materials in support of a major fundraising office at a top-ranked academic medical center. As part of the development communications team, the designer will work with colleagues to create print and electronic collateral, logos, webpages, and other materials as needed to promote Mount Sinai’s capital campaign and all other development efforts. The graphic designer should have at least 3 years of full time graphic design experience. The designer will be a full creative partner for the team, thinking strategically to produce effective materials in a dynamic environment.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Creates and designs print and electronic collateral, including brochures, flyers, proposals, invitations, programs, white papers, posters, etc..
  • Creates diagrams, charts, infographics and other visual elements.
  • Designs e-communications, including e-newsletters and e-blasts
  • Creates templates for Power Point and other presentations.
  • Develops logos, logotypes, and other branding materials.
  • Designs pages for the Development website,
  • Works with photographers and videographers, and edits photographs as needed for Development materials.
  • Maintains an organized filing system for projects and related assets.
  • Catalogs, tags, and uploads images and assets to digital asset management repository.
  • Contributes design work to Science & Medicine magazine.
  • Works with freelance designers, agencies, and consultants on other projects as needed.
  • Performs other related duties.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in art or design. Advanced degree or certificate is preferred but not essential
  • 3 years of graphic design work experience in digital and print, preferably in a health, academic, or other non-profit environment; 2 years of web design
  • Advanced knowledge of - and facility with - computer graphic packages: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Quark.
    Advanced knowledge of Power Point
    Intermediate knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word

• Must be a patient, good communicator who is able to take direction from several sources.
• Must have the ability to communicate complex concepts through design quickly.
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to tailor graphic concepts while adhering to firm brand standards and brand compliance.
• Excellent team player.
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must be organized and be able to juggle multiple projects at once and to manage the timelines effectively. 
• Must be able to pivot quickly and be responsive to urgent requests. 
• Should have a good sense of humor.
