Roles & Responsibilities:

This position will report to the Capital Assets Accountant. There will be, however, a strong degree of accountability to and direct interaction with the Director of Finance and other staff. 

Primarily responsible for ensuring the tagging of all newly purchased Capital equipment, maintaining a database for that purpose, compiling reports and assisting with inventories.

  • Affixes Capital Asset Property tags to equipment as per spreadsheet compiled monthly by Capital Assets Manager. Equipment is located throughout the Medical Center (including patient areas) as well as in several off-site locations (including the Bronx Veteran’s Association Hospital)
  • Maintains appropriate analyses documenting tagging progress, revisions to data, problems, compiles reports when requested, etc.
  • Compiles reports on inventory when requested
  • Assists in the conduction of asset inventories on both a regular quarterly and ad hoc basis
  • Assists in ongoing projects related to the maintenance of the capital assets database, including classification of fixed assets
  • The candidate must be persistent in pursuing the tagging of assets while at the same time maintaining an undisruptive, polite and agreeable manner when dealing with administrators, researchers and other employees throughout the clinical, basic science and administrative departments
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required
  • Performs other related duties as required by departmental needs
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or greater depending on department and role 
  • Employee must have no reservations working in a medical environment where contact with patients may occur
  • Position requires strong self-motivation and organizational/time management skills
  • This position offers opportunities for growth within the finance and accounting functions of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, if available
