Sr. Director of Biomed Cybersecurity 


The Biomedical Device Security team is responsible for driving the strategy and evolution of Mount Sinai’s program focused on protecting the increasing number of connect biomedical and Internet of Things (IoT) devices in Mount Sinai’s clinical and research functions. Members of the Biomedical Device Security team develop, socialize, and drive program initiatives related to Mount Sinai’s bio medical device security program through integrations with the hospital’s clinical engineering, IT and third-party medical device vendor eco-system.


Strong leadership, vision and expertise leading complex security programs along with up-to-date understanding of information security industry trends are foundational skills required by the Bio Medical Device Security Leader role.  

 

In this role you will lead a team of medical device and security professionals, mentoring and coaching the team as well as building relationships across the organization to achieve the goals of the program. The role drives security posture improvement at the enterprise level by working in close partnership with cross-functional teams including: various clinical, IT functions, audit functions, legal, business units, and medical device product and research teams.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership in defining, prioritizing and delivering initiatives associated with the program

2. Help develop, maintain and execute a multi-year enterprise-wide security road map to secure connected medical devices

3. Provide input and support to connected bio medical device support teams throughout the connected device life-cycle from procurement to decommissioning.

4. Advise and assist medical device stakeholders in operationalizing and adhering to connected device security requirements

5. Participate in industry working groups and provide insights back to Mount Sinai teams on leading practices and regulations

6. Report on metrics to the connected bio medical device security steering committee and other stakeholders


Skillset requirements

1. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated ability communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences

2. Ability to adjust to multiple demands, changing priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change, while multitasking effectively

3. Ability to coordinate multiple teams in accomplishing process review and improvement

4. Demonstrated ability in project management and change management

5. Experience working in a healthcare organization

6. Experience with relevant industry standards or frameworks, such as those listed below, is preferred:

  • ISO 27002
  • NIST CSF

7. Ability to develop, socialize and gain executive support for investment over a multi-year effort


Required Qualifications


Education

1. Bachelor’s degree in Biomed, Engineering, Computer Science or a related

required.

2. MHA, MBA or equivalent preferred


Experience: 

1. 10 or more years in cybersecurity, risk management or similar compliance

function preferred

2. 3+ years of experience working as a team lead or a manager responsible for

driving cyber security and risk related programs at an executive leadership level

3. Ability to collaborate in a very fast paced environment

4. Professional information security certification (CISSP, CISM, FBI CISO

Academy, CMU CISO Executive Certificate)
