Job Title: Immigration Coordinator
 
 
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Immigration Coordinator is responsible for a range of client service, operational and administrative tasks in the International Personnel (‘IP’) Division of the Human Resources Department. The Coordinator is often the first contact point (by: phone, email, or walk-in) with our foreign-national customers, and is a friendly and helpful communicator and problem-solver – an ambassador for the Mount Sinai Health System brand. The Coordinator supports the early stages of the visa application process with document intake and preparation, data entry and records management. This individual also assists with billings and collections, and other data entry and office management duties. S/he is a self-starter, eager to learn, and detail-orientated, with often an interest in law, immigration, office operations, and/or human resources. And, as competencies are acquired and demonstrated in this job, the Coordinator may have the opportunity to become an: Immigration Specialist.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves the front desk, answers phones, facilitates appointments, sends/receives mail and maintains cleanliness and order of the space.
  • Receives all incoming documents to initiate, maintain or close an immigration case files; assists preparing forms for submission to the immigration service (e.g., applications for employment authorization, applications for change of status, applications for adjustment of status; assist with J-1 visa processing overflow, prepare H-1B consular packages, TN visa packages.
  • Assists Immigration Specialists with case matters, as instructed.
  • Creates records and maintains ‘Tracker’ (systems of record) data, runs reports, and updates process milestones; maintains central document files.
  • Performs billing and collection tasks.
  • Helps to maintain office supply stock.
  • May provide clerical and administrative support other team members.
  • May participate in other Human Resources projects and initiatives.
  • Completes I-9 and E-verify processes for Foreign Nationals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or combination of applicable work experience and education.
  • Some office experience, preferred, especially in law, immigration, academic healthcare, or human resources.
  • Experience with SEVIS and/or Immigration Tracker, preferred
