Mount Sinai Health Home (MSHH) is an integral part of Mount Sinai Health Partners (MSHP). MSHH is a NYS Department of Health (DOH) program designed to serve Medicaid enrollees who have high-cost and complex chronic conditions.  MSHH utilizes a care management service model which aims to ensure that patients “receive everything necessary to stay healthy, out of the emergency room, and out of the hospital.” 

 

 

Role Summary

MSHP seeks a Director of Finance for Health Home and Care Management to manage the financial performance of the MSHH and the MSHP care management programs, in partnership with the Operations Directors of those programs.  This is a unique opportunity for a finance professional seeking to have an impact on developing a financially sustainable model to provide vital health support to the highest risk and most complex Medicaid patients.  This position blends traditional financial oversight with operations optimization.  This role reports to the Vice President, Strategy & Operations, Population Health and will work in partnership with the MSHP clinical operations team that oversees the clinical and operational aspects of the MSHH.

 

Responsibilities

MSHH Operations Optimization

·         Develop financial goals and performance measures for MSHH that align with overall program operational and clinical goals and objectives

·         Develop strong understanding of the MSHH operating model and relationship to revenue and expenses

·         Together with the Operations Directors for the MSHH, deploy a continuous improvement management approach:

o   Identify process and workflow changes to the operating model

o   Assess the clinical, operational, and financial impact of potential changes

o   Recommend adjustments to MSHH leadership that align with MSHH operational, clinical, and financial goals and objectives

o   Implement agreed-upon adjustments, monitor and evaluate their impact

 

Financial Management & Reporting

·         Manage the complete revenue cycle for MSHH using a continuous improvement approach

·         Develop regular and accurate Health Home P&L statements and other financial reports that include analysis and recommendations concerning financial goals and performance measures

·         Review reports with MSHP leadership and MSHS Finance Department on a monthly basis, identify opportunities for operational improvements based on financial performance

·         Develop quarterly financial projections to project rest of year financial performance

·         Build a strong working relationship with Mount Sinai Health System Finance Department

·         Develop and maintain MSHH and Care Management finance standard operating procedures covering:

o   Procurement processes

o   Financial transactions

o   Expense tracking and accruals

o    

Monitor MSHH program regulatory and contractual terms; model the impact of changes (e.g., changes in reimbursement rates) on program financials as needed

 

Annual Budget Development

·         Together with the Operations Directors for MSHH, identify resource needs by analyzing short and long-term MSHH program plans

·         Develop annual Health Home operating budget based on identified resource needs

·         Liaise with MSHP Population Health Operations Team to ensure alignment in budget development

·         Create materials to support MSHP Leadership Team budget approval presentations to MSHS CFO

·         Submit MSHP budgets to MSHS Finance 

Qualifications                   

Education and Experience

·         Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

·         Certified Public Accountant or Certified Financial Analyst License preferred

·         5 – 7 years of professional experience required in finance, ideally related to healthcare

·         Experience with financial modeling and financial reporting

·         Experience working independently with senior leaders from large organizations

·         Passion for healthcare transformation
