Roles & Responsibilities:
The Data Manager oversees the quality and timeliness of all data management activities for a study or program. The Data Manager is responsible for study startup documents, questionnaires, data cleaning, query tracking, compilation and maintenance of data management binders. The Data Manager develops; monitors study metrics, and ensure appropriate training for the staff.
- Creates, updates, maintains and validates data for the provision of computerized reports. Manage data through review, computerization, cleaning and auditing for complaince with standard operating procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
- Reviews, analyzes, and validates data to ensure consistency, integrity and accuracy based on specific guidelines
- Develops study questionaires. Analyze responses; develop plans to provide feedback
- Assists in standardizing data management procedures such as documentation for departmental operating procedures
- Maintains documentation and data quality management guidelines.
- Responsible for complex and ongoing data management for projects assigned by senior management. Responsible for loading, documenting, and cleaning large and complex data sets, designing data validation scripts using SAS to perform complete data validation and error detection, and report on the data integrity, content and its management, ensuring that all investigators are informed of any issues relating to data integrity. Documents data sets using specifications worked out in conjunction with senior management and investigators group.
- Assists in manuscript preparation of these studies. Collaborate in publication of research studies by validating all manuscript analyses before manuscript submission
- Ensures data accuracy through review of case report forms or questionnaires for completeness and consistency
- Recognizes recurring issues and analyze causes in order to reach a solution. Generate plans and provide tools/techniques for improvement and to measure success
- Provides guidance appropriate training to staff. Coordinate activities required to meet quality standards.
- Ensures that projects are proceeding according to plan and develops recording systems to assure that the flow is tracked in an accurate and timely fashion
- Available to help investigators, junior researchers, and other staff with the use of data files and in general introduction to the system and the statistical software
- Maintains knowledge of current regulations and technologies related to data management
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Education: Master’s degree in Biostatistics preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in programming and data management related to medical/clinical research including experience in working on large clinical trials and/or large databases
- Two years SAS experience, pharmaceutical or clinical trials experience preferred. Epidemiology or genetic analysis experience is also preferred
