Roles & Responsibilities:


The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is offering a mentored research training experience in health disparities research to talented minority or disadvantaged students who aspire to become physician-scientists or biomedical/health science researchers. During this full-time 10-week program, students will be introduced to a broad range of research training experiences.

Program Elements:
  • Formal Didactic Instruction
  • Mentored Clinical or Health Services Research with a focus on health equity
  • Career and Leadership Development Activities
  • Supportive, Collegial Atmosphere
  • Opportunities to present at local, regional and national scientific meetings
  • Paid Stipend
  • Ten-week program (June 10 - August 16, 2019)
Program Eligibility:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Disadvantaged background or underrepresented minority as per the NIH definition: African American or Black, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hawaiian Native or other Pacific Islander
  • Health profession students who have successfully completed one year at a school of medicine or public health OR Post-baccalaureate students enrolled in a pre-professional program
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
