Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The Offsite Ultrasound Technician, under the direction of the Radiologist and Physician, assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by providing high quality ultrasound images.
    Primary Duties 1. Verifies patient identification, prepares and assists patients for ultrasound procedures as requested by a physician 2. Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation. 3. Helps patient transfer to the sono exam table and ensures adequate imobilization to perform the scan. 4. Performs patient care tasks, eg. removing excess gel from patient. 5. Obtain diagnostic sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient. 6. Maintains a daily log of patients seen. 7. Monitors patient reaction to treatment and changes in physical or mental status, reporting change to the appropiate person. 8. Provides patient care with dignity and respect for the individual. Educates patients about the procedures to be performed including Biopsy procedures. 9. Practices sterile technique to prevent cross contamination. 10. Obtains optimum quality images through the use of proper anatomical positioning, probe and frequency selection as designed by the radiologist. 11. Observes and follows safety procedures including universal precautions 12. Carries out quality control checks on equipment, reporting deficiencies to proper personnel for action. 13. Maintains currency with changes regarding technology and safety for self, patients, and visitors. 14. Places the demographic information in the reading room for interpretation 15. Processes studies onto CD or Film format for patient study requests while maintaining proper HIPPA compliance 16. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and working area.

 


 

Requirements:
  • Minimum: N/A Preferred: N/A Actual: HS/GED and graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty as appropriate.
