Job Description

A Computational Postdoctoral Fellow positon is currently available within the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Greenbaum at the Tisch Cancer Institute within the Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai in the field of mathematical and computational cancer immunology. The lab focuses on quantitative biology at the intersection of cancer research, immunology, evolutionary theory, and virology. In particular we are interested in understanding the impact of tumor-immune interactions on tumor evolution. The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to and shape several ongoing projects within the lab and as part of the new Center for Computational Immunology within the Tisch Cancer Institute, an (NCI)-designated cancer center.

Duties and responsibilities: 

1. Perform independent research in the above-mentioned topic areas.
2. Report to PI research progress and maintain a current knowledge of literature as well as practical skill sets relevant to the field.

3. Maintain good records and communicate with collaborators.
4. Nurture collaborative relationships with fellow scientists within the institution, locally, nationally and internationally.
5. Summarize findings in a timely manner and assist in drafting publications, under the direction of the PI, by extracting and compiling moderate to complex research data, assisting in interpreting the data, reviewing and editing articles used in scientific publications.

6. Mentor and train less experienced research staff and graduates. 



Eligible candidates will have: a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Physics, Genetics, Immunology or Computer Science and would master computer and technical skills necessary for experimental execution as well as data input and analysis. Experience in computer programming and computational biology applications preferred; prior experience managing and curating large datasets and with machine learning techniques desired. A strong science background and the ability to perform both self-directed and guided research are required. Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to meet deadlines.
