Development Officer-Communications  
 
The Development Officer is a pivotal member of the Development Office at Mount Sinai.   They will essentially wear two hats:   1) She/he will report directly into the Senior Director of Development Communications and will be responsible for some administrative duties, managing the overall Development Communications budget as well as special projects.  2)  She/he will also be responsible for helping to serve as a point of contact for Development colleagues and vendors to help oversee the production of print and digital based communications as part of the overall Development Communications Team. 
 
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Key Duties & Responsibilities under the Senior Director of Development Communications:
    • Set up meetings, manage calendar appointments/meetings, help with presentations, and other special projects
    • Attend key Marketing and Press/PR meetings with the Senior Director of Development Communication AND send out the notes from the meeting to Development
    • Oversee the Development Communications budget, which includes working across Development Communications to secure all vendor estimates, invoices, W9s and POs and Finance AND ensure they are all tracked properly in Excel AND paid within the calendar year.  This includes actively providing a monthly budget update in Excel for review. 
       
  • Key Duties as a member of the Development Communications Team:
    • Help oversee the design and production of print and web-based communications including proposals, email creative, invitations, web updates for giving.mountsinai.org (e.g. marquee banner updates, donation page updates, campaign page updates)
    • Work with production/design team and outside vendors (as needed) to ensure the look and feel for all communications projects are within branding and design guidelines as set by Development Communications and the larger branding team for the Health System
    • Help maintain the photography archives and file-sharing with Mount Sinai’s Marketing Team
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • BA required
  • 3 - 5 years in an office setting, preferably in advertising, development, alumni, special events, public relations, marketing and/or research
 
Minimum Computer Skills:
  • Intermediate/advanced proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); Experience with Photoshop, Raisers Edge and NetCommunity, HTML knowledge would be helpful to the person in this position, but they are not required

  •  Superb administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency and follow-up when answers are needed
