Roles & Responsibilities:
8-10 week summer internship in the field of healthcare administration in the department of Neurosurgery at the Mount Sinai Health System. The general purpose of the internship is to provide the intern with an opportunity to develop basic skills and learning experiences in health care management. The intern will be exposed to all of the management staff and operating functions on a rotational and project basis to multiple sites within the department of Neurosurgery, across the Mount Sinai Health System. The administrative intern will expected to attend a variety of medical staff, management, revenue cycle, senior leadership meetings. The projects expose the administrative intern to clinical and practice operations, revenue cycle, productivity, research, patient experience, budgeting, planning, marketing, financials, quality management, ancillary services, and human resource management issues
  • Performs basic administrative and data entry functions.
  • Gathers, assembles and files documents as needed.
  • May be called upon to be part of a large file scanning or data assembly initiative.
  • May sort and deliver mail as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or greater depending on department and role.
