Job Title: Oncology Social Worker – Multiple Myeloma
Roles & Responsibilities:
These continuity-of-care social work positions with the Multiple Myeloma (MM) Program are in the Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center. There will be four MM social workers. The social workers will follow patients from diagnosis to end-of-life and will provide counseling and other psychosocial services to patients and their families. The social worker will provide these interventions both inpatient and outpatient throughout the treatment trajectory. Psychosocial assessment, intervention education and discharge and community planning are a significant part of the social work responsibilities. The social worker will be an active member of the MM interdisciplinary team and participate in weekly team meetings. Social workers are expected to develop groups and other integrative services to benefit the patient population.
New York State LMSW.
Experience providing psychosocial services to inpatients and outpatients with chronic illnesses.
Skills in rapid psychosocial assessment and focused, short-term treatment.
Excellent clinical, communication, collaborative, and organizational skills.
Oncology experience preferred.
Ability to develop psychosocial programs.
