In the Tankou Lab we are interested in identifying gut bacteria that regulate inflammation in the brain and spinal cord of the mouse model of multiple sclerosis called EAE.
Dr. Tankou’s lab is investigating the role of the gut microbiome in patients with multiple sclerosis and its mouse model called EAE.
The primary goal of our research is to identified gut derived bacteria that regulate immune function of astrocytes and microglia.
The second goal of our research is to elucidate mechanisms by which the gut microbiota regulates gut intestinal permeability and blood brain barrier permeability in EAE/MS.
The third goal of our research is to identify communities of gut derived bacteria that can be used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
We are looking for a postdoc fellow with a strong background in Neuroscience, Microbiology, mucosal immunology, neuroimmunology and mouse genetics and mouse handling. Individuals with expertise in RNA Sequencing, Astrocyte & Microglia biology, growing anaerobic bacteria, isolation of lamina propia, peripheral immune cells profiling, FACS analysis are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess a Ph.D and/or MD degree.
