Astrocytes play important roles in the
development and maturation of retina ganglion cells. This position will
be working on generating retina ganglia cells by reprogramming
astrocytes in vivo, which involves analyzing the morphology, structure
and function of astrocyte-derived retinal ganglion cells in normal and
diseased retinas. Using astrocytes as a source of regeneration is a very
challenging topic in regenerative medicine, especially in the retina, a
novel source of stem cells for retinal self-repair.
