Roles & Responsibilities:

The Manhattan HIV Brain Bank is looking for a tissue bank Associate Researcher.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing clinical fluid samples obtained from HIV and HCV infected patients
  • Assisting with the rapid prosection of autopsies at Mount Sinai Hospital
  • Participate in call for the prosection of these cases after hours
  • Photographing tissue specimens
  • Dissection and cryopreservation of fluid and tissue specimens
  • Maintaining a computer catalogue of collected tissue and fluid biospecimens and inventories
  • Packaging and shipping samples
  • Assist with preparation of histologic slides, performance of histochemical and immunohistochemical procedures
  • General laboratory maintenance, ordering supplies
 
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree
  • Minimum 2 year commitment
  • Prior experience at a laboratory bench with basic techniques (pipetting, centrifugation, making solutions), and computer skills
  • Some knowledge of histology helpful, but not necessary
  •  Molecular skills a plus; We will train individuals with regard to histology and general anatomy skills
