Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The candidate will investigate RNA-based intra- and inter-cellular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease and therapeutics. The studies will include, but not limited to, identifying the composition, function and the molecular mechanism of heart and cell culture-derived exosomes. Exosomes carry selective genetic materials such as RNAs and miRNAs and transfer them to other cells in the vicinity or at a distance. Exosomes are known to mediate intercellular communication within or between tissues and organs. The candidate will address the in vivo and in vitro function of selective proteins and miRNAs enriched in the exosomes from different sources. He/she will also investigate the epitranscriptomic mechanisms of cardiac regeneration Other responsibilities will include general lab management, ordering supplies, maintaining animal protocols, manuscript preparation, mentoring students and trainees, and participating in general lab research activities including western blot, RT-PCR, imaging, flow cytometry, cell and tissue culture, tissue harvesting, animal handling, ultracentrifugation, transfection, mouse echocardiography, and related tasks.
