POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Job Description

Strength Through Diversity

Ground breaking science. Advancing medicine. Healing made personal.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Will be working on projects to identify novel molecular targets to be exploited in treatment strategies for pulmonary diseases and heart regeneration.

Damage to the blood vessel wall and subsequent smooth muscle cell proliferation and endothelial cells dysfunction after arterial injury plays an important role in the pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension. In addition, following revascularisation and the formation of new blood vessels, up to 90% of the patients suffering from occluded coronary artery would achieve almost immediate patency

Under my supervision, candidate will be using genetically engineered mouse models and epigenomic approaches to investigate the role of BMPR2 and ARID1a protein loss in pulmonary vascular remodeling dysfunction and on heart regeneration, respectively. In addition, he/she will be involved in defining the effects of novel mediators of cell-cell communication and the potential biomarkers in cardio-pulmonary interaction using 3D co-culture of human pluripotent stem cells derived vascular cells.

Dr. Abdeljabbar will present his research findings to other laboratories within the Center and to our collaborators. He will also be responsible for writing and submitting papers resulting from his work and applying for grant funding.
