The Senior Associate Researcher is a laboratory research position.  The incumbent is responsible for independently conducting advanced research experiments of clinical samples.   S/he assists in the interpretation of research outcomes, performs assays to support research studies, and adheres to strict protocols in clinical testing and maintenance of the laboratory environment.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

 
  • Supports the bio banking procedures
  • Adheres to the strict protocols required for clinical testing
  • Manages sample inventory, prepares manifests and samples for long-term storage
  • Maintains required record keeping in compliance with CLIA/CAP/NY laboratory regulations
  • Evaluates all necessary steps when performing a test, recognizes problems and implements the necessary troubleshooting measures, or consults with supervisor or director to learn or expand on clinical protocol knowledge base
  • Mentors and trains less experienced Researchers in protocols or procedures
  • Participates in continuing education programs
  • Other related duties as assigned
 
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience, OR completion of a laboratory training program and 1 year of related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of basic research skills and sample management systems
