POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Job Description

Strength Through Diversity

Ground breaking science. Advancing medicine. Healing made personal.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs) or degraders are bivalent compounds with one moiety that binds an E3 ubiquitin ligase and another moiety that binds the protein target of interest. The induced proximity leads to ubiquitination of the protein target and its subsequent degradation at the proteasome. This technology has been rapidly gaining momentum in the drug discovery field. Dr. Jian Jin’s lab at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is a leader in this research field and has developed a number of first-in-class degraders targeting oncogenic proteins. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in research studies, which focus on discovering novel degraders as anti-cancer therapeutics. The main responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow include: (1) design and synthesize molecules of interest; (2) perform analyses to confirm the identity and purity of the synthesized products; (3) analyze data and prepare reports for review with Dr. Jian Jin and other lab members; (4) document all work according to standard procedures; (5) prepare or contribute to publications and grant applications; (6) prepare and present materials at seminars and meetings; and (7) comply with all safety rules.
