The Clinical Operations Team within MSHP drives the implementation and ongoing improvement of clinical initiatives that enable Mount Sinai to deliver better value to its patients, its providers, its customers (i.e., plan sponsors and payers), and its partners. Role Summary

 

MSHP seeks a Senior Director of Business Transformation, Population Health to use their expertise to further the patient experience and business transformation goals of the Population Health Clinical Operations Leadership Team while also providing oversight to the Ambulatory CDQI Team.  The Senior Director will provide operational support by facilitating, analyzing and managing performance improvement initiatives. The Senior Director will utilize a wide range of improvement and project management methodologies, value-based care models, and analysis of relevant data to assist with the development and integration of teams tasked with the need for process improvement.

 

This role encompasses responsibility for leadership of both MSHP Clinical Operations process improvement/business transformation, and strategic and operational oversight for ambulatory CDQI.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate comprehensive and thorough understanding of critical elements of health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations, and budgets
  • Design operational management strategies, quantitative models and tools to improve both strategic and day-to-day management of care delivery in areas such as operational performance and capacity management
  • Gather, analyze, integrate and present data from multiple sources to evaluate trends, and implement relevant performance improvement models and teams
  • Utilize process improvement and related methodologies to guide operational design for quality improvement
  • Develop scope and plan for improvement initiatives, acquiring stakeholder buy-in and leadership support; can communicate approach to outside stakeholders unfamiliar with improvement tools and methodologies 
  • Utilize expertise in improvement methodologies to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives
  •  Use project management skills to develop project plan and timeline for improvement projects; , and establishing metrics and milestones effectively track deliverables and delegate tasks; coordinate project summary presentations; and maintain oversight of all project related tasks necessary for project success
  • Provide high level strategy and operational guidance to CDQI Director to ensure that the CDQI Ambulatory team meets high level KPIs such as Physician Engagement, Diagnosis Recapture Rate, etc.
  • Collaborate with CDQI Director to innovate additional program elements, including the strategic implementation of technology solutions to further improve the specificity and comprehensiveness of clinical documentation that drives appropriate risk adjustment
  • Oversee and improve the growing relationships between CDQI Senior Management and Risk SMEs from MSHP’s payer partners
  • Oversee CDQI growth strategy to include multiple lines of business
  • Support the CDQI Director in developing infrastructure for systems, workflows and processes to achieve specific benchmarks and goals
  • Prepare budget for business transformation and oversee budget preparation for ambulatory CDQI.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with vendors related to CDQI
  • Supervise direct reports
  • Guide the professional development of the CDQI director and other direct reports.

·         Help cultivate a team culture of continuous process improvement and transparent accountability for clearly defined outcomes

 

·         Active member of Clinical Operations Leadership Team

 

Qualifications    

 

Education and Experience Requirement

         M.S., M.A., Ph.D. or equivalent degree in health management, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or related field

         Seven or more years of professional experience, including responsibility for continuous improvement and operational excellence

         Knowledge and experience with process improvement

         Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation abilities

         Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

         Superior leadership skills

         Experience developing and leading project management teams with the ability to obtain successful results and effectively integrate operational design goals

         Independent thinker with project management experience
