Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Analysis of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) mouse model to investigate function of the neuronal protein VGF and other proteins in the pathogenesis and progression of this disease, and determination of the efficacy of AAV-VGF gene therapy to reduce amyloidosis, tauopathy, and depression-like behavior in mouse models of AD. Duties will include mouse colony maintenance and genotyping, stereotactic surgery including AAV delivery and cannula implantation, osmotic mini-pump implantation, protein and RNA preparation for western, PCR and/or transcriptomics analysis, immunohistochemical analysis, and mouse behavioral analysis (memory, depression, anxiety, and/or feeding and body weight analysis).



M.D. and/or Ph.D. with at least 5 years of bench research experience and additional 2-4 years of postdoctoral bench research experience. Experience with the following techniques is required: mouse colony maintenance and genotyping, stereotactic mouse surgery, western and PCR analysis, immunohistochemical analysis and microscopy, and mouse behavioral analysis (memory, depression, anxiety, and/or feeding and body weight analysis).
