Job Description

Strength Through Diversity

Ground breaking science. Advancing medicine. Healing made personal.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The Filizola lab is seeking a highly qualified candidate with expertise and a strong publication record in the development and/or application of computational biophysics/chemistry tools, ranging from molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling algorithms, free energy calculations, and machine learning approaches for drug discovery and development.

As a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Filizola lab, the candidate will participate in research studies aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the function of important protein targets, including – but not limited to – G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), integrins, transporters, and ligand-gated ion channels for the purpose of drug discovery. His/her main responsibilities in this research are to contribute unique ideas for computer simulations of a variety of protein systems and analysis of their results, as well as to prepare initial drafts for publication. He/she is expected to be on duty for approximately 40 hours per week.

  • The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Theoretical/Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. He/she should also have expert programming skills and analytical abilities in addition to a strong background in molecular dynamics simulation methods and advanced knowledge of artificial intelligence-based tools to efficiently analyze large simulation datasets. Proven expertise in computational approaches for drug design (e.g., ligand-based and structure-based drug design, virtual screening, docking, pharmacophore analysis etc.) is also appreciated. Strong communication skills, and an ability to both collaborate with peers and/or train undergraduate students effectively are required.
