What You’ll Do:
The Senior Labor Relations Specialist drives Labor Relations initiatives and daily operations at the direction of Labor Relations leadership, including bargaining unit arbitration and contract negotiation, case preparation, grievance issues at a higher complexity, FMLA  (Family Medical Leave)  employee counseling,  and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Provides guidance to employees and administrators on the grievance process, including those at a complex level (Step 3).
  • Handles inquiries on FMLA, layoffs, suspensions, and other related matters.
  • Leads investigations, and otherwise assists Labor Relations leadership in decision support and preparation of cases (including those for the SDHR, City Commission). 
  • Serves as case investigator and hearing officer.
  • Takes an active role in contract negotiations.
  • Participates in downsizing/lay-off processes.
  • Establishes monitors and provides all necessary reports as per bargaining unit contracts on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for creation of contracts and monthly invoices for vendors as necessary.
  • Takes a leadership role in the 1199 Mentorship Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
 
What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelors degree required (Masters preferred).
  • Juris Doctor preferred.
  • 7+ years experience in a labor relations setting, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
