Medical Assistant - 74010

What You’ll Do:
  • Takes and documents vital signs (height, weight, Blood Pressure, Pain Scale, etc.) on all patients scheduled to be seen by Providers
  • Obtains prior authorizations for prescriptions
  • Enters prescription requests in EHR and sends to provider
  • Performs Phlebotomy services (this includes spinning bloods)
  • Follows Meaningful Use, MHI, ACO and PCMH protocols
  • Assists at the front desk as needed: answer telephones, register patients, discharge patients, schedule appointments, copy charts, schedule ancillary tests, follow up on overdue diagnostic test results.  Please see PSC job description for more details)
  • Maintains exam and consult rooms with clinical supplies and clerical forms used by Providers
  • Follows up on all lab results
  • Completes and documents POCT results in EHR for provider review
  • Orders clinical supplies when necessary
  • Maintains refrigerator logs
  • Performs daily QC for all POCT
  • Perform EKGs when ordered by provider
  • Performs Pre-visit planning for diabetic, CHF patients as per practice guidelines
  • Assists patients that need DME authorizations
  • Assists providers with procedures
  • Monitors biomed expirations for medical equipment
  • Identifies and provides age-specific screenings for pts as per practice guidelines
  • Assists patients that need DME authorizations

  • Daily huddles with MDs to discuss patient's treatment plan and management
  • Performs Diabetic foot exams
  • Enters patients' medications in EMR for providers' review and reconciliation
  • Performs Alcohol, Tobacco, and/or Depression screenings annually for every patient
  • Performs Fall Assessment and ADL screenings on the elderly
  • Enters Pre-Diabetic assessment results in EMR
  • Populates HPI--medication adherence, diabetes control, foot/eye exam compliance-- in EMR for Diabetics for providers review and reconciliation
  • Provides CHF, DM, and smokers with self-management tools and education
  • Assists with Population Health Management by verifying that age/gender-appropriate patient have completed their colorectal screening, breast screening, cervical cancer screening
  • Performs Prescription Monitoring System (I STOP) screening for every patient
  • Determines if patient is Transition of Care patient and retrieves results from outside provider/facility for Provider to review
  • Assists providers with Coumadin patients as directed
  • Other duties as requested
What You’ll Bring:
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent  
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Knowledge of practice operations
  • Current CPR
  • Fluent in Spanish
